Jefferson Heights Park Plaza and Pavilion

This concept was submitted for a design competition in partnership with Holly Hill Construction. While working at BWSC, I was tasked with creating a conceptual master plan for the park and this design responds to that overall plan for the park. The arbor provides a sense of entry to this central space and provides shaded seating that overlook the existing playground and future volleyball court. The large oak tree adds shade to the council ring at the hub of the park where the walking paths from around the park converge. Grass mounds frame the entry to the pavilion and create a series of smaller spaces for more intimate gatherings. The pavilion structure incorporates the existing pavilion as wings attached to the main structure. The stage is positioned to play in both directions - either to a small crowd under the pavilion and plaza or to a larger crowd seated on the adjacent play field. The native plants throughout the site define the spaces, add shade, attract wildlife, and flower to enhance the park.
